Commander-in-Sleep Visits West Point

When West Point cadets learned that the Commander-in-Chief would be delivering a major speech on Afghanistan at the United States Military Academy they probably never realized it would be an exercise in fighting insomnia. As TV cameras panned the audience cadets were seen in various states of consciousness. The Commander-in-Sleep was working his magic mesmerizing the crowd with his canned, teleprompting message. There was nothing new. The main stream media had already covered all the pertinent points that day prior to the speech.

You can be sure that if America saw those nodding cadets then the Military Academy leadership also took notice and probably doled out a little extra-curricula disciplinary action.

This speech lacked passion and enthusiasm. As the President continued on it appeared that even he was bored. Was it me or the lighting? Obama looked like a cast member from Michael Jackson's video "Thriller".

Those Taliban and al-Qaeda forces that listened and managed to stay awake had to be equally bored but somewhat pleased of the announced departure date of American troops. Maybe this speech was a new Obama administration secret weapon. Any future enemy forces that are captured will be subjected to a new enhanced interrogation method, repeatedly listening to this speech until they give up the information needed.

It will have the enemy longing for the good old days of waterboarding.

When Clemency Kills

Those that are responsible for releasing a menace on society must bear the moral burden when clemency kills.

Four police officers were gunned down and killed last Sunday morning representing a tragedy that should never have happened. Maurice Clemmons specifically targeted the Lakewood officers inside a local coffee shop south of Seattle, Washington. This convicted felon had a long history of living outside normal civilized society.

Granting clemency is a failure in judgement on all individuals involved. There are many people that invest a lot of valuable time in order to convict a felon. This would include members of the jury, prosecutors, the judge and a myriad of others that support the judicial system.

Mike Huckabee as Governor of Arkansas had an obligation and responsibility to keep Maurice Clemmons behind bars. He demonstrated utter disregard for the public safety in which he was entrusted. There is no amount of defense, no comforting apologies or flowery rhetoric that will disguise this irresponsibility that he so blatantly chose to support.

Why are criminals released under the false pretense that they have been rehabilitated, that they are now nice and no threat to society whatsoever? The list is long of parole boards and governors releasing criminals only to have them prey on society with robbing, raping, and murdering the innocent in the name of giving someone a break.

This was Huckabee's downfall during his last Presidential bid. Either you're tough on criminals or you feel sorry for them and grant clemency. Is now a good time to mention Wayne DuMond? Another criminal from Huckabee's clemency campaign who went on to rape and murder Carol Sue Shields in Missouri.

Mike Huckabee's past is coming back to haunt him over and over. This effectively seals his fate from ever running for public office again. Any political aspirations are history. Not even Chuck Norris will be able to pull him from this precipice.

The question now is how many more innocent victims must fall prey to clemency releases?

Maurice Clemmons is now dead. Shot to death by a police officer trying to apprehend him. For all you bleeding hearts that swoon over criminals, if there had been no clemency in Clemmons case he would still be sitting safe and sound in an Arkansas prison receiving his three hots and a cot. The rest of us will have to be satisfied that he received a just punishment and millions of dollars, so they say, will not have to be spent on death penalty appeals.

New Low in the Politically Correct Overseas Contingency Operation

When battle-hardened Navy SEALs bring in a known terrorist and then face court martial charges this country has a serious problem when it comes to winning a war. This particular group of SEALs were successful in hunting down and capturing, alive, Ahmed Hashim Abed. In 2004 Abed, the alleged planner, was responsible for helping to ambush and murder four Blackwater security guards then mutilating and dragging their bodies through the streets of Fallujah before hanging two of the burned bodies from a bridge.

Three Navy SEALs now face various charges after apprehending Abed to include dereliction of duty, willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Back in June 2005 Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell and his team mates faced a politically correct conundrum when three goat herders compromised their position on a barren mountain top in Afghanistan during a secret operation to capture a high-ranking Taliban leader . The goat herders were set free only to notify local Taliban that quickly pursued the SEALs and eventually resulted in the deaths of 19 warriors.

The problem lies with the lily-livered, spineless political leadership of this country that has a problem calling war - war. A leadership that sees fit to impose restricting rules of engagement on our troops that aids and abets our enemies. These ROE's burden and hinder our warriors' ability to overpower and annihalate enemy combatants.

Citizens of America must pause and reflect on which side our country's leadership stands and supports. This warped and perverted PC mindset has allowed this war to go on for many years now. It is a sick political correctness that urges one's stomach contents to creep up into the back of the throat.

There appears to be no tolerance for military success when brave men risk their lives and are then punished over a bloody lip. Once upon a time it was acceptable to crush and destroy our enemies, now we coddle and pamper them. Abed is using a ploy right out of the Taliban terrorist handbook. Get captured and immediately accuse your captors of abuse. He knows that there are enough panty-waist sympathizers in America to give him credibility including the Commander-in-Chief.

This Abed character needs to point himself east, get down on his knees and thank his Allah that all he has is a bloody lip.

The ShamWow Bow

This past Saturday the President was in Japan during the second day of his Asian tour. He greeted the Emporer and Empress with an embarrassing, subservient bow. Not just an ordinary bow but a deep, submissive bow. A "bobbing for apples" bow. A "may I shine your shoes" bow. The "mother of all bows." A bow to end all bows. What White House aid advised him to do this? Did he practice this bow on Air Force One in front of a mirror?

Someone needs to inform the President that it is all right to be a proud American. There is no shame in standing tall, being the leader of the free world and shaking the hand of another world leader. There is no need to bow down to any other nation. It is not a sign of disrespect if the President of the United States does not bow. The hand-shake is our sign of respect. If bowing is such a sign of respect then where was the return bow?

What is this incessant desire to humble himself in front of the world? The Marines have a saying,"It's hard to be humble." This apparently does not apply to the Commander-in-Chief who travels the globe in a state of apologetic appeasement baked in humble pie.

Barack Obama would do well to review American history, especially the part where the United States has had to save the world's human population from themselves on numerous occassions at great sacrifice to American citizens. There is no reason for apologies or humility to any other country.

Maybe the President needs to be reminded that he is the leader of the greatest nation on Earth and it's hard to be humble - when you're an American.

Army Cover-Up or Politically Correct Fear

When we were young many of us were taught that lying, hiding or covering up the truth was wrong and not to be tolerated. It appears the Army has still not learned this lesson.

In the case of Major Nidal Malik Hasan, choosing to ignore the events that led to the indiscrimate massacre of soldiers at Fort Hood was equivalent to a cover-up.

"This terrible event would be an even greater tragedy if our diversity becomes a casualty"
~General George Casey, Jr., the Chief of Staff of the Army

After a statement like that maybe it's General Casey that's in need of a psychological evaluation. What happened in his career to turn him into a present day politically correct commando? Is it any wonder that we are still embroiled in a war with Islamic extremists when we have top military commanders embracing this attitude? The attitude appears to have trickled down and permeated throughout the entire Army causing good people to turn their backs on suspicious behavior and Islamic extremist ramblings. Hasan was terrorizing hospital staff long before his shooting rampage. Anyone reporting such behavior and rhetoric were in fear of putting their own careers in jeopardy. That would explain the cover up or need to tread lightly in the name of diversity.

We live in an age of fighting politically correct wars. No longer is it enough to use overwhelming force to subdue our enemies and meet our objectives quickly. Our troops live and die by Rules of Engagement that hinder tactical goals and benefit our enemies. Taliban and al Qaeda forces fully embrace these rules and use them to their advantage against American forces. Hasan used this same mentality to his advantage knowing there would be no repercusions toward his outrageous rantings.

What does it say when a top military General finds it necessary to remind everyone that the Army practices diversity in the face of adversity? Political correctness is alive and well in the United States Army.

Profile of a Coward

Americans have now had some time to digest the horrific shooting spree at Fort Hood in Texas that resulted in 13 killed and 30 wounded. What is emerging appears to be the criminal act of a lone, despicable, cowardly loser.

By all accounts this Army psychiatrist was reportedly a marginal performer who recently transferred to Fort Hood after serving six years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he received poor performance evaluations. This coward voiced criticism to the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan. There is also web postings attributed to him espousing the glory of suicide bombers. Loser.

Now that he has been reported to have survived his gunshot wounds we will no doubt have to endure a legal circus covered in excrutiating detail and spin by the main stream news media. The defense of this man is almost predictable. It may go something like this. As an Army psychiatrist he listened to other people's combat experiences until he developed his own form of faux-PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.) This led to a breakdown and thus the shooting rampage. Bottom line: there is no defense of this criminal act.

Actually, he was a coward whose time had come. After years of somehow avoiding duty in a combat zone he was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan at the end of the month.

He lived a coward's life and will die a coward's death and does not deserve understanding or compassion.

I reserve my compassion for the victims and their families.

Final Push For Health Care Reform

[CNN] AMA, AARP Back House Health Care Bill

For the majority of Americans that have health care coverage the final push for health care reform is sobering. The above CNN article requires further comments.

There are many AARP members that do not agree with this health care reform and have discontinued their membership. AARP claims to be nonpartison but are often on the left side of an issue. Has anyone at AARP read this 2000 page bill? There are an infinite number of ways that a tome this size can be interpreted or misinterpreted depending on who it favors.

The AMA's President, Dr. J. James Rohack, has admitted that the legislation is "not a perfect representation of our views." Which part isn't perfect? Is there the possibility that some doctors would not be willing to take a pay reduction in order to support this bill?

Read the bill: ‘‘Affordable Health Care for America Act’’

Nancy Pelosi is overseeing final changes to this $1.1 trillion health care bill. Not very comforting and leaves one to wonder if she is even capable of overseeing a bill this complex that has no pictures.

Republican House members remain opposed and for good reason. Is there a provision in this bill that would keep health care from eventually sliding into full government control? If so, where is that stipulation?

"I think what we're going to see is the town hall coming to Washington, D.C., just to remind members of Congress that we're the ones we would like you to pay attention to, not lobbyists. And we don't want the government to own our health care." ~Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota

Any Republican proposal is quickly dismissed while Democrats accuse them of not having a plan.

The bill would subsidize insurance for poor Americans. What is the definition of poor? Where is this subsidized money coming from? It is coming from wealthy Americans in the form of a tax surcharge. There would also be a 1.3 percent annual cut from Medicare. Let's not forget, AARP supports this.

Then there are the issues of abortion and illegal immigrants that still needs tweaking. There are a group of Democrats that are skeptical of the language in these areas. The President is scheduled to meet with those Democrats for a little arm twisting session.

Those Americans that are currently receiving "high-end" health care policies through their employer would be taxed on this benefit. There goes Obama's promise of not taxing the middle class.

What about those individuals that do not purchase a health care plan? Well the government will just fine those people.

Finally the one issue that continues to be conveniently omitted - tort reform. Without tort reform there can be no viable health care reform.

Regardless of what is in this monstrosity of a bill Democrats are hell-bent on passing this behemoth before year's end.

Election Day Wake Up Call

There were big Republican wins in yesterday's elections for governor in Virginia and New Jersey.

Those sitting Democrats that have been feeling comfortable and smug since January 2009 should now step out of their comfort zone to reflect on last night's election results. Left-seated politicians that have spent the past several months hurling insults and innuendoes at constituents under the Obama umbrella can no longer accept the premise that they have been handed a mandate for radical change. The message should be: ignore the election outcome at your own peril.

One year from now Americans will have their say again. In November 2010 African-Americans will not be flocking to the polls to vote in a black President so there will be no free ride for Democratic candidates on the coattails of Obama. Further purging of Democrats will be required in order to rein in a liberal, unfettered spending and over-bearing, condescending Congress.

Both Democrats and Republicans should make no mistake, incumbents on both sides of the aisle are vulnerable from voters wrath. Maybe the time has come for a Congressional clean sweep in future elections.

Yesterday marked the end of the blame Bush era and should be declared officially over. Democrats are on their own and have no one to blame but themselves. Now that Americans have had a big, heaping "helping" of Democratic majority government the taste is apparently not so sweet.

Obama in Campaign Mode

With election day tomorrow Barack Obama has been in full campaign mode stumping for Democratic candidates. Some would say he has never left the campaign trail except to play President once in a while.

There are three campaigns in as many states worth watching. A close race for governor in New Jersey between Democrat Jon Corzine and Republican Chris Christie remains a dead heat. In Virginia Republican Bob McDonnell maintains a lead over Democrat Creigh Deeds for governor of that state. On Sunday there was an unusual twist in New York's 23rd Congressional District when Republican nominee, State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, dropped out and endorsed Democrat Bill Owen running against Republican candidate Douglas L. Hoffman. Maybe not so unusual. She was a supporter of Obama's stimulus package, gay rights and pro abortion. Not exactly a conservative platform.

Let's not forget ol' Joe Biden. Democratic candidates must cringe when they see him coming to "help" them.

"We aren't asking you to switch your party. We are just saying join us in teaching a lesson to those absolutists who say no dissent is permitted within your own party." ~VP Joe Biden, at a rally for Democrat Bill Owen in Watertown, NY

It's not a matter of dissent. You either have and represent conservative values or you don't.

These elections appear to indicate an endorsement or denouncement of the current Democratic path we are on. Now is the time for the GOP to start capitalizing on the momentum created by these close races and not abandon conservative ideology.

Maybe Obama can remain on the campaign trail from now until 2012 and keep away from the taxpayers money with his spreading the wealth policy. America will thank him!

The Offensive American Flag

There are gym members of a Marblehead, Massachusetts fitness club that are offended by the display of an American flag that hangs from the rafters. Owner Mark Shea received numerous complaints regarding the flag. Some complained they blocked the televisons while others were just down right offended by it.

Where does this hatred of the American flag come from?

The flag has always been a symbol to be respected and those that would burn it, trample on it, or be offended by it are people that I really don't understand. The behavior and attitudes of this ilk are misguided by ignorance of what the flag actually represents.

The American flag stands for freedom, liberty and everything good about this country. Poor political leadership that renders bad decisions should not be blamed on Old Glory. The angst of the offended should be directed toward these decision makers and not the symbol of hope for millions around the world. My mind is unable to conjure up even a remote thought process that would lead me to be offended by our flag.

For those Gravity Fitness Club members that are offended by the American flag hanging in there, be assured that it also represents the freedom of not having to be a member of this club and you are free to choose another one to join. The flag is staying. Isn't America great!

All flag-haters that are offended by the Stars and Strips your countries call you - North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Libya, Syria...

Flatulence Control for Climate Control

Climate chief Lord Stern: give up meat to save the planet

Just when you thought it was safe to cut into that juicy steak the animal flatulence scare rears its ugly head again - emphasis on rears.

“Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.” ~Lord Stern of Brentford

We now have a British economist, Lord Stern of Brentford a former chief economist of the World Bank, claiming cows and pigs are responsible for producing methane from their flatulence that is a significant source of greenhouse gas that is contributing to global warming. That's all we need, a British version of Al Gore. Will there be a sequel to Gore's movie, "An Inconvenient Truth?" How about, "An Inconvenient Odor." And that odor seems to be emanating from the BS that's piling up from those with warped theories of a climatic doomsday.

Where do these people of supposedly higher intelligence gin up these outrageous claims without scientific proof? Could it be a case of mad cow disease?

How about the human factor. If we decrease our meat and increase our vegetable intake will we not annihilate ourselves through self-flatulence?

To this I say, "Save the planet and humankind - fire up the grill and eat more meat."

The (Pay) Master Has Spoken

Pay czar Kenneth Feinberg ordered pay cuts for executives whose companies received Wall Street bailouts from the government. Who is this man that wields so much power with the government backing him up?

When you ask the government loan shark for a bailout it eventually has to be paid back. Such is the case for corporations that needed some scratch to keep them from going under. Highly compensated executives should take some solace in knowing that there will be no broken kneecaps but they have been given notice, it's time to pay up.

Corporations will think twice before making a deal with the devil and become an indentured servant to the government. Thinking back, maybe they'll agree that bankruptcy wasn't such a bad idea after all.

Maybe a lesson for all of us. When you enter into a bargain with the Obama administration it will be an offer you can't refuse and one that you will pay back.

Is that "The Godfather" theme song playing in the background?

High Times With New Medical Marijuana Policy

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has notified federal agents to no longer pursue and arrest medical marijuana growers as well as patients that have legitimate prescriptions for the weed. There are currently 14 states that have medicinal marijuana laws.

Excerpt from the Memorandum for Selected United States Attorneys

The prosecution of significant traffickers of illegal drugs, including marijuana, and the disruption of illegal drug manufacturing and trafficking networks continues to be a core priority in the Department’s efforts against narcotics and dangerous drugs, and the Department’s investigative and prosecutorial resources should be directed towards these objectives. As a general matter, pursuit of these priorities should not focus federal resources in your States on individuals whose actions are in clear and unambiguous compliance with existing state laws providing for the medical use of marijuana. For example, prosecution of individuals with cancer or other serious illnesses who use marijuana as part of a recommended treatment regimen consistent with applicable state law, or those caregivers in clear and unambiguous compliance with existing state law who provide such individuals with marijuana, is unlikely to be an efficient use of limited federal resources.
~David W. Ogden, Deputy Attorney General

No more wasting federal time on those hundreds of pesky marijuana clubs and dispensaries flourishing throughout California. There's always the convenient "doctor" that will write a prescription for "medicinal" marijuana that covers headaches to hangnails and every malady in between these two body parts. "Clearly" no cover here, just a lot of suffering. Federal agents and prosecuters have better things to do than rousting stoned, ailing people.

Could this be the first step in completely legalizing marijuana?

A few facts regarding California Medical Marijuana Information.

Who knows, there may someday be coffee shops that offer java and a joint. They'll need to stock the shelves with extra munchies.

Titans Abandoned By Fellow Tennessean

Today the Tennessee Titans looked like a high school football team that lost its way to a rival high school game and ended up at Gillette Stadium playing the Patriots by mistake.

As if a 0-5 season hasn't been bad enough going into today's game for the Titans they then had to deal with a good ol' New England Nor'easter that brought freezing temps and blowing snow. This apparently contributed to their loss to the Patriots resulting in a humiliating defeat of 0-59.

Once again, where was Al Gore?

How could he abandon his home state's NFL football team when they could have used all the help they could get? Even if that meant a little help from Al's global warming that should have offered moderate temps and no chance of snow. He could have stood on the Tennessee sideline encouraging the players with stories of the coming warmth or even initiated a "heated" debate over the polar bear population. But Al was nowhere to be found. Does Gore now owe the Tennessee Titans an apology for his climate warming prevarication? After all, this was a winter storm in October!

Al Gore lives by the famous quote, "There's a sucker born every minute." He's made a lot of money duping the faithful environmental crowd with his global warming predictions. The former Vice-President is a regular modern day Nostradamus with his climate changing prophecies.

Could it be that Al was watching the Titans vs. Patriots game from the comfort of his heated home?

Rush Limbaugh's Critics Lack Evidence

It seems those critics that are judging whether or not Rush Limbaugh should own a football team have some misplaced misconceptions. Rush is not an athlete, a politician, nor a racist. He is in fact a man that started with nothing and became very successful by telling it like it is. This alone draws the ire of very many people, especially those of the liberal left persuasion who live in a world of double standards and hypocrisy where Rush holds their feet to the fire.

Some of the first ones to jump into the fray were none other than Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. They wasted no time proclaiming their opposition to Rush Limbaugh owning an NFL team. Here are arguably two of the most divisive people in the United States of America today. Yet they receive a free pass from the main stream media. Why is that? You can come to your own conclusions. Reverend Al even had the gall to demand a meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell so that he could properly counsel him on the "myriad of reasons" why Limbaugh should not be allowed to buy the Rams.

There are some football players stating they would refuse to play for St.Louis if Rush bought into the team. I don't believe they would give up their multi-million dollar salaries over principles. If so, show them the door and as they're leaving advise them to avoid the line of players that are willing to take their place.

If Rush Limbaugh is indeed the divisive racist that many are claiming him to be would he not have lost sponsors and been removed from his EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) seat long ago in much the same way Imus met his fate? There are many detractors and accusers but no substantive evidence of racist malice only tender feelings of the politically correct where sensitivity reigns and truth hurts.

Commissioner Goodell told reporters, "I've said many times before, we're all held to a high standard here." Does that also include the players Commissioner? This is not exactly a gathering of acolytes. Maybe Goodell should include everyone in his "high standards" before he turns the NFL into a sanctuary of piety.
